I will never argue your point because I have always felt the same way. I always encourage folks to build if they can. Plain and simple, if you can break it, you can repair it. For those who don't remember my first kayak, I ran it over a class 6 rapid and managed to get it broken into 11 recoverable pieces. I rebuilt the thing at the cost of $400 CAD and it looked almost as good as new. Can you say frankenyak? Yep, she shows her scars but does exactly what she used to do: float and look good doing it.
