Here's a picture of the deck. The amount of curve in the light strip was largely based on the flexibility of the 1/2 inch poplar strip. You may notice I fit the edge of the hatch to the light stripe. I wish I could say this was planned but it was a fortuitous accident. I cut out templates for the hatches based on the suggestions in Nick's book and as I was figuring out the locations it became obvious that the poplar formed a perfect edge for the hatches. These kinds of 'happy accidents' don't happen to me very often with woodworking projects so I like to acknowledge them when they do.
