I do it a similiar way with epoxied scarfs, except I glue them all up at once, just wrap waxed paper between them and they don't become one big board again :)

I have a 1x12 table with a 1x2 screwed to one side that I epoxy them on, this way they are all straight, awfully easy to make a crooked scarf.
