I'm personally not a fan of rollers for the first coat. I prefer using plastic spatulas, using the method shown on the CLC S&G video. This really helps minimize the amount of epoxy used on that first coat thereby minimizing drips and floating of the glass.

Epoxy will work in the cooler conditions, but your results more difficult to predict. I would wait for the warmer weather.

Just my two cents.
