It'd be nice if someone laid down a set of objective tests for SoF skins. Apply force against a 1/4" diameter drift punch placed against the skin, increasing and measuring the force until the skin is punctured. Do the same for an Xacto knife, using a standard blade... then measure how much force it takes to actually cut the skin. Abrasion... I have no idea how one measures abrasion, other than taking varying grades of sandpaper to it and seeing how much dust is created.

Publish the methods, then create a database of coverings. Let people skin their kayak, apply their waterproofing/coating of choice, then perform the testing on scrap. Slap the results in a database.

Note: I am not volunteering for any of the above, just tossing it out there as an idea ;oD. My wife would kill me if i tossed another project on my plate.
