On my truck I have an old set of Yakaima Gutter mounts and long rails that I have had since cars had gutters. :-) There is a Yakima bracket that you bolt to the shell that acts like a rain gutter. It requires some holes but just in the shell. I don't know what they are called and they were kind of high priced I thought, but the old style mounts go fairly cheap on EBay. I had the rails and needed them to haul ladders more than the boats but it served well for both.

Another option is find a utility trailer, extend the tongue and make a rack out of 2x4s and some black iron pipe. I love my trailer! It so simple to load. The boats stay on it. Don't have to unload them when I get home either.
