If you steam the pieces before laminating, it dramatically reduces the clamping pressure required to hold them in place. Here'a shot of a steam-bent coaming on an SOF. The rim is two 1/4" x 1/4" pieces stacked. BTW, if you round the edge of your stock with a router before you cut the outer strip, it saves a lot of hand work later.
