: I did a design using Kayak Foundry, and started my build a few
: months ago. I finally got around to posting pictures to Picasa,
: and here is the link.

: The design is for a 20ft long kayak with good straight line speed
: and moderate stability. I live on a lake, and will store the yak
: on my dock, so the 20ft lenght is not a problem.

: I just fininsh glassing the deck. Lots of fun so far. This is my
: first build, and my motto has become "perfect is the enemy
: of good". I found myself making a small flaw look worse
: rather than better when I fooled around with it to much. For
: instance, I hacked on the the forward edge of the hull so much
: that I ended up cutting the strips back about 8 inches and
: carving a block of cedar into an external stem. It actually came
: out OK, so I did it again on the deck. I basically tried for an
: subtle arrow motif on the deck. I put two strips of walnut as
: the king strips, and did a small glue lamination of cedar and
: walnut for the front stem. I also made a small triangle shape
: for the of the deck, along with a small external stem. The
: pictures show it failry well.

: Comments welcome, but be nice -- as I am almost considering this
: first build as practice for my next build..........

I'm terribly jealous of the space you have to build. Sure beats my dusty dark basement. I don't think i'd ever stop if i had a view like that and a covered outdoor space to build in.
