: Good morning everyone,

: I Hope all is well.

: After my Creature comfort seat thread It looks like the best
: backband solution for my merganser is nothing at all , or
: perhaps a pemanent foam backpad.

: since I tend to loiter and nature watch or coast with river current
: I like the idea of the foam pillar support.

: the distance from my stearn bulkhead to my coaming is 4" the
: very back of My seat pad is at the 6" mark.

: 1) MAKE PILLAR 5" DEEP (1" clearing of coaming) I can
: always add foam to bring it out to 6"+

: 2) not sure how wide pillar should be? Just wide enough to fit in
: small of back? slightly concave? I saw the pic on my thread but
: need a bit more info

: many thanks

Hi John,
I use two pieces of foam, one unshaped against the bulkhead and one shaped that fits between that block, the coaming and the seat. They're just wedged in place. 4" wide.
I didn't concave the front face of the block, just beveled it as in the photo. Similar to Clayton's but I rounded the corners a bit.
