This is another place I think the GP comes into it's own, that is, in the latitude of technique that remains effective. I admit to having only paddled with "good" modern blades a fraction of the time, but it seems to me they like more consistent technique -- placement of the blade, the draw, the exit, all that. I feel more robotic using one. When I slump over my paddle with the GP, I often feel as though I am turning a two-handled crank shaft -- the motion of my shoulder and arm becomes more circular, more weighted downward over the loom. When I'm fresher and sitting taller, the stroke becomes more of a diagonal slicing of the water, longer and fuller. Maybe analogous things are felt by those accustomed to a wider shorter blade, I don't know?
