I alluded to this in a previos post, but every decent woodworker should have a shop knife. Nick has mentioned this in his books. I lost my favorite, rosewood handle rigging knife over the side of my last big boat chopping a jammed halyard in a storm, didn't get it all the way into the sheath apparently cause when I got back to the dock it was gone. Anyway I've been hunting for the perfect replacement since. I happened to mention this to a friend, who happens to be a retired Danish cabinet maker and me got me thinking of Puukko's. So I've been on the search, off and on, for the perfect Puukko that I can afford.

You guys that are serious woodworkers and in love with tools have to do a web search for these, very interesting. The traditional ones are all high carbon blades with a black finish, you I'm sure understand why and are all full tang fixed blade knives. Traditionally they have a figured birch handle with a raindeer horn cap and a fur on raindeer leather sheath. Cool stuff :)
