Hi. John.
Here in the UK there seem to be two makes of hook knife available, listed under carving tools.
One manufactured by "Flexcut", and the other(s) by a Swedish co. called"Mora",
who also do a double edged version for left or right handed use.
I don't know where in the world you are but these things now seem to be marketed globaly and
I bet a web search will throw up something local to you.
I haven't invested in one of these myself yet but you've got me thinking!!!
