: If you look closely you can see the Rule 500 I installed in the
: front of my seat. The info for this setup can be found on
: Gnarleydog's blog. I was able to find the reed switch on ebay
: large enough to handle the current so no relay was needed. It is

Hi Joe,
As a long time user of electric bilge pumps, I have been looking for a good switch system. They one you have is a step in the right direction, but still I don't want magnets sliding around bungees on my deck and switches near my knees. So doing some thinking I have decided to go wireless on my next one. A simple waterproofed remote clipped to my pfd will be my next system. The wireless switch can be mounted in the waterproof battery housing and the pump wired in directly from there.
Have a look at this switch: http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Volt-Remote-Control-Kit/dp/B000ZRXJY2/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1299532892&sr=8-29
One way to waterproof the remote would be to cover the switches and screws with tape and dip the whole assembly in liquid insulation tape.
So if this present system doesn't please here's an alternative.
