400 km away and didnt feel it but its a tragedy for us all.
Interestingly a 30million ton chunk came off the Tasman glacier in the quake and caused 3.5m tsumanis in the lake at the bottom of the glacier.
There are kayak trips available which run on the lake and paddle up to the glacier end. Would have been frightening.
