Actually, I think interested parties are aware of the forum. I don't see how adding a class of users who stumble upon it by chance and increase the number of posts, which will inevitably contain tons and tons of posts that are simple have already been answered because the poster did not do a history search before posting, will be an improvement. If traffic to the GK web site is the goal, increasing the forum "visibility" may have no effect, while increasing the GK web site traffic will get more eyes across the links to the forum, and these potential users who find the forum this way will generally be people who are actually interested enough to be building something, not net surfing and running across a forum link accidentally.
