Below is a photo and link to more photos for my new Black Skimmer sea kayak design. I took the all around good handling lines of my Point Bennett design and made them longer, more narrow, and with more side flare and bottom V for a faster hull. I also redistributed the curve in the sheer line for better rolling. It has enough freeboard, about 2 inches, for racing but low enough volume for rolling. For more foot room, I redesigned the deck. The kayak is 18.5 feet long, 19 inches wide, and 6 inches deep at the back of the cockpit. The depth at the front of the cockpit is 8.75 inches, and 10.5 inches where the feet go. I've had it out three times now, and so far the light wind, and small wave and swell performance is great. It is amazingly stable for being 19 inches wide. I built it with 4mm ply and 6 oz. glass inside and out, with reinforcement in places, and the kayak weighs 35.5 lbs.
