For some reason I can't find my Qajaq Journals that Vernon Doucette puts out. But what was it, last issue, Hans Edi Pawlata? IIRC... with his fuselage framed "eskimo" kayaks berating the form of the beamier, large cockpit forms plying the rivers in Germany, Austria. What was that, the 20's?

Ugh, I don't have my facts together for this post, but those are some places to look.

Some of the old polar Greenland frames and some umiak frames I have seen look similar to fuselage frame in that the "ribs" are composed of separate pieces of lumber. If they lined up with deck beams, it might as well be a piece of plywood.
