Sounds like good advice, but few launch spots have water available in my experience.
I always rinse the salt and sand off my kayak and other gear when I get home from a trip, then hose off the car.
I carried salt water kayaks on my old Tahoe for a decade without any rust problem, but had to scrap it after 15 years and 253,000 miles of New England driving when the rear suspension rusted off the frame.
