I haven't built a baidarka bow, so please forgive me if I am putting my paddle into someone else's pond...

However, a couple of the construction pictures I have seen suggest, perhaps incorrectly to me, that the solid wood bow may not be fully encased in glass and epoxy. If that is the case, I second the suggestions others have made to use epoxy, probably slightly thickened as suggested by Etienne. It will take very little epoxy material, and it the structure will be more impervious to water than it would by using any of the pva glues.
