: Do NOT use vinegar to remove epoxy from your skin. Vinegar is a
: solvent for the epoxy and breaks it down and makes it easier for
: the epoxy to be absorbed thru the skin. Very bad idea.

: Use a waterless hand cleaner to remove epoxy from the skin then use
: soap and water to remove the mess the hand cleaner makes.

: Using vinegar, with gloves on, to clean up tools works great.

Well great. I always used vinegar. I thought the whole idea was that it is less harsh. Wouldn't the hand cleaner do the same thing- break it down? It has to break it down to release the bond, right?

The whole epoxy allergy is a mystery to me. I see guys at the boatyard using it so carelessly all the time. Then I hear stories where one bad exposure seemed to cause it. I wonder if there has to be a predisposition in order to get the allergy. Not taking any chances mind you, but just a curiosity. I am going to do more research on this.

Off topic, the same goes for bottom paint. The painter at the boatyard is constantly covered in it. He was painting my friend's boat and eating lunch with it all over his hands. How he is still alive is a mystery. Of course now that I think of it, he also has no teeth.
