Lofting on graph paper works well. After you have the paper cut out, dilute some cheap white glue and paint the plywood, paint the back side of the paper, lay it down and brush out any wrinkles then paint the top of the paper. the glue will dry transparent. This is a common technique used in decoupage. You can lay this on plywood of your choice for forms. I used 1/2 inch ply (I dislike particle/MDF board as it doesn't hold together well. 1/4 inch is't stiff enough for my taste. You can lay the forms out on a sheet of ply and cut close with a jig/saber saw. With this method, you can get more forms out of a sheet of ply than if you used 1.5 by 2 foot pieces to loft each form directly. Use a bench belt sander to dress the edges to the line. Center line, water line, strong back hole and sheer line will all be more visible and ease construction.
