: I just posted on another builders forum that light weight in kayaks/canoes is
: a terribly overlooked and underestimated virtue. At 34 lbs -- a man after
: my own heart I tell ye -- that boat fairly flies for the effort put into
: it said the owner of a 35-lb Outer Island. Also, I understand the NH to be
: one of the few boats that actually performs better as a S&G version.
: Hybrids are my favorite biggest-bang-for-the-buck way to go, and I'd sure
: like to see that Moby system of yours. Thanks for the post, it looks
: GREAT, and is certainly a fine diversion from this land of never-ending
: nightmare.

Hi Kurt,

I have been using your own should-be-patented epoxying/sanding system for years to keep the weight to a minimum. As for the Moby Latch system... I keep promising myself to create a web page but never do. Here is a pretty self explanatory group of pictures that walk you through it. And the system really does work great.

After taking a direct hit from Charlie a few years ago (lost my roof) and this year from Fay I know exactly how it feels to look around at the aftermath of a big wind. It's not pleasant to say the least but for me it was nothing that a few dozen hours with a chainsaw couldn't make more normal. This was the first week in two months that the water had receded enough in the local river for my favorite mountain bike trail to be exposed again. Things do return to normal for the most part but make the best of what you have. I've been using the high water to explore areas that are normally seen on foot.
