When I used to make model railway buildings out of styrene sheet, MEK was
the solvent used to glue the bits together. There was another solvent that
was commonly used, but, with heat (such as when the vapour in a room was
inhaled through a cigarette), this decomposed into phosgene, a well-known
chemical warfare gas ! MEK was the "safe" solvent to use !!
