Hello Kudzu,

I have worked for years with hide glue, both the liquid type and the hot animal glue. It is wonderful glue and there is nothing better for pepairing old veneer, but it would be the worst possible glue for strip-building. It is waaaay too moisture sensitive and can crystalize with age. Modern glues are far superior to hide glue.
