I am doing a similar thing right now.. Half way through the hull now after 1 day. I found myself putting dabs of wood glue every 5 inches or so to help line the strips up between the forms.. dabs of glue, then a few minutes after stapling, the glue starts to set and I can tweak the strips. I use masking tape for ones that won't hold in line. I ask Bjorn about his technique; if I remember right, he said he uses un-thickened epoxy for the first coat, so it seeps in.. then I guess takes the staples out and sands and fills any gaps.. I'm surprised at how minimal my gaps are so far. (using square edge strips a hair under 3/16)
For what it's worth, right now I plan on painting the deck and keeping the hull natural cedar. That may change.
