: I have seen it take up to 3 days for the first coat to dry in a shop at 20
: degrees. At just 14 degrees it might take a few more days. I would try to
: increase the shop temperature for a day or two and see what happens.

Glen I wonder how much cold weather effects the drying of varnish, and maybe not all varnishes are equal. I really pushed the cold weather varnishing envelope last week when I put on three coats of Minwax® Helmsman® Spar Urethane (Clear Gloss) all in one day that I had used over three months, never thinned, in an open pole barn and sanded between coats in weather that ranged from 10 degrees early morning to 20 degrees in the afternoon when I put the last coat on. The first two coats were wiped on in thin layers and the last coat was brushed on. I have varnished in cold weather before but never this cold. I was surprised that it even set up.
