Actually awile back I was looking at gold leaf for letters for a boat and the price of real gold (this stuff is a micron or two thick) was unbelieveable vs. the fake stuff that is really hard to tell from real. Like 100:1

I guess if you had money to burn, or a historical boat, it "might" be ok.
