Direction for scarph joint, part 2 of 2 *Pic*

If you have not yet cut your strips, then scarph (British English spelling, US and some other countries use "scarf" as well) the boards first with a diagonal cross cut. Then when you rip the strips you'll get a nice finished appearance with no extra work.
