Threading the shock cord *Pic*
In Response To: Re: Highly reliable and simple ()

: I was wondering how the shock coed has held up over time? Also is there
: a way to replace it when it wears out?

Kent, I've only been using this skeg design for approximately one year, but the shock cord shows almost no wear. The cord is slightly recessed into the bottom, so there is normally no abrasion.

It is easy to replace using a piece of string and a piece of coathanger wire to help thread the shock cord (same method as used during initial installation). I do not install any shock cord until everything else is complete on the installation.

The top photo below shows the threading direction in the untrimmed skeg box. The final cord position is only very slightly recessed into the hull.
