So close to starting I can't stand it!!
Hybrid construction, strip decks. Nicky wants her deck done to resemble a Mahogany Chris Craft. If you remember they had the caulk lines (white) running down the deck parallel to the center line. Of course that is what I had in mind for my boat, but I will let her have that and do something different for mine. Well maybe not. :-)
I remembered one I had seen done similar. Laughing Look North star is very similar to what I have in mind. Link below.
I have two ideas on how to do this. One is just small strips or white wood between the wider strips. I have feeling that is easier said than done too.
Second idea is gluing up a board with a thin white wood strip. Then ripping to into strips so there is a stripe on one side of the strip. I have a complete woodshop so I making this isn't an issue. It will take time but I can produce very consistent width and thickness this way.
The drawback is that I have to be very careful when beveling the edges. Always have to do the cutting on the one side of the strip. Never on the white edged side. I am thinking that may give me some problems.
So, someone done this or can tell me a better way?? What am I missing?
