: I would be the last person to discourage anyone from trying something
: new...in
: fact, you can use my "concerns" as motivation
... in a sort of
: "I told you
: so" scenario.
: There is a "clunky" looking sectional boat (plastic), that has a
: removable
: skin, if that is the way you plan to go about it, and that seems the easiest
: way..
: In that event, full bulkheads won't be needed, just reinforced cross sections
: that butt and bolt together at the section take-apart connections, and then
: the assembled frame can be slipped into the skin.
: Now that I think about it, perhaps this type of SOF construction does have
: some redeeming qualities...
I could see a small SOF sailboat being built
: this way due to the additional rigidity of the sectional frame.

Well with multi part boats, made a couple dinks a number of years back but they were all plywood, I worry that they will leak in the middle of the joints. Course the fabric can be stretched over an opening as well as a full piece to keep it waterproof, so...perhaps you're right
No removable skin, just three really short SOF boats that just happen to bolt together to make a much longer boat
