Good to get some new blood in here. ( other than on the workshop floor.)
Dont worry about glue not bonding to the two woods, they will stick together
just fine. & the fiberglass will hold them together anyway.
If the wood is dry & brittle, 1/4" axccent strips are eye catching...
I used mahogany for my accents, both 3/4" and 1/4".
See attached...
The 1/4" is around the cockpit recess, it gets the most comments.
After the Guillemont is finished & you start on the Aircraft Carrier
remember there are rules about how much armorment you can add before
the Coast Guard stops you...
