Hi Tom,

Well last question first, it's a challenge, there are questions if a SOF 3 piece kayak will work and that's a good enough reason all by itself to try it, for me at least :)

Yes, need two piece bulkheads so it can come apart, but they each don't have to be full thickness both because once assembled they are then double thickness and because they are full bulkheads rather than frames with no centers, so each being 5/16" to 3/8" will be fine.

Also, even though I need to make more test panels, I'm still refining my skin material, even though it's pretty strong it's also pretty light. I've known since building the last one that I needed to build another, just didn't get the stringers cut before it got cold and this year it's stayed cold and snowy, unusual for this climate. So...waiting for the weather to break .

Oh yeah, eventually I'll tackle a folder, but that's yet another project :)

Still think I can make this boat, even being three piece, at under 30 lbs.
