Come look at my Disko Bay and show me the flat spots or the dark spots, hard to argue with success :)

Yes if you just butt joint the wood you could end up with a flat spot, I use little backing blocks hot glued to hold everything even while I'm stripping, works fine. (btw, your instructions sold me on hot glue) And um...I don't leave the end grain showing so there is no dark spot?
