: The folks who make WEST system have a boat building backround. Check out
: their web site.
: In the late 80"s I helped a friend build a Tom Wylie 30 foot sailboat
: that was a wonderful looking and sailing boat. It was built in a very
: similar fashion to our strip building, just on a larger scale. The hull
: forms were set up upside down. A row of 1" by 1" ash was run
: fore and aft. Then 2 layers of 1/4" by 6" mahogany were run
: diagonally to each other and the first layer. A final layer of mahogany
: was run fore and aft. The hull was covered by a layer of fibreglas cloth.
: I don't remember the weight. After all the fill coats were complete, 2
: coats of clear Imron were sprayed on. West System epoxy was used for all
: glue and fastening applications.
Wow, talk about overkill, specially for a Wylie which is supposed to be ultralight. That boat had to be 50% overweight.
