I'm with the other commenters here - I think it'll behave better for you if you round off those edges on the tips.
For reference, the picture here is from Superior Kayaks webpage and it shows how they do the ends of their paddles. This is close to the shape I've done most of the paddles I've made. And, I think this type of rounding would be pretty close to fitting within your glued on tips.
