I've used pogies for many years, and actually prefer them to gloves as they allow
bare hand contact with the paddle. Simple coated nylon is plenty warm enough,
so lined pogies are not necessary. They work with GP's, but require a bit of
trial and error to get them on correctly. (See attached)

Poagies are also very useful for winter motorcycling, though they are called
handlebar muffs in that application.
