: Thanks bill. I have no idea what the square footage is, maybe
: someone more mathematical could figure it out. Two full layers
: over hanging a guillemot hull by two to four inches all the way
: around. Anyone gonna bite?

: I think that rolling it on would trap alot of resin in the roller
: and not put it on the boat, yes/no? As far as thickness of the
: resin fill coats go would you suggest thicker or thinner resin
: for the roller, and also for the squeegie techniques.

: Hey Farback didn't you use this cloth for your guillemot recently?
: What are your thought on my resin useage? And how many fill
: coats did you use, with which technique? And how much resin for
: the fill coats?

: Sorry to be so full of questions, I am just fishing, as I always
: say if you don't ask, you won't know.

: Thanks

I've been using 4oz plain weave from Raka ( http://store.raka.com/75ozplainweavex50in-2-1.aspx). I do one full layer and a 12"wide full length wear layer at the keel, and a second layer inside between the bulkheads. I've also re-enforced under the deck in front and behind the cockpit. So, double 4 oz in the areas that will see abrasion or weight.

I tried working with rollers and squeegees with poor results. All I use is disposable 2" brushes now. I apply horizontally, work downwards to remove excess, then horizontal again to smooth out. This works well for me. I think everyone's got their strengths in all the methods, I just know I make a mess with squeegees and rollers. Might be more forgiving with 6 oz cloth.

Since Chrome is insisting on attaching a picture, here's the Minas Basin from the dyke wall in Wolfville.
