It can be done. Do you really need to go as thin as 1/16? I find closer to 1/8 can usually be bent around the bow and stern pretty easily. With 1/16,you could go around a very tight curve.

If you do cut 1/16, then about 2/3 of your board will finish up as sawdust. :-)
