: I'm wondering if anyone has experimented with Plast-Dip for a SOF
: coating?
: It's brushable, thinable, comes in clear, UV stable available. Not
: too expensive - about $65 a gallon.
: I'd like to hear if anyone's tried it and how well it worked. I may
: just have to get a small can to try it on some fabrics. at the
: worst I'd still have some left to coat my tool handles...

I used it on my igdllossuit folder, over polyester from Tacoma Tent and Awning. It makes a nice flexible skin, but has one problem. It is porous! It works for short trips, but anything longer than an hour and you will have a kayak full of water. I have tried recoating, and it still leaks. I sold the kayak to a friend, and she recoated it, and it still leaks. There are much better coatings out there.
