: How are bungies simpler?

: In my experience, 18" between the magnetic hatch cover and
: your compass is enough distance
: to eliminate any effect of the magnets on the compass.

: I use four pairs of 3/4" X 1/8" rare earth magnets PER
: side of each hatch cover.

: This provides strong pressure requiring a grab loop to remove the
: hatch cover.

: Buy coated waterproof rare earth magnets. The regular nickel plated
: rare earth
: magnets corrode VERY easily unless you take careful measures to
: ensure no water
: EVER can touch them.

: All the best,

Rob,

I'll agree with about 99% of what you say, but 4 pair of magnets per side vs. a wood eye epoxied to the bottom of the hatch underside and one on the keel, and a bungie with the hooks on it between the two, how difficult is that?
