Dave,

I made a basswood GP, a la Holst, about five years ago and wouldn't trade it for the world. It may look a bit tattered after all these miles, but when it's been wet for a few minutes it takes on a perfect sheen and makes sliding strokes a real joy. I have a couple of cedar paddles which, while nicely shaped, just don't have the feel of that basswood beauty.

Go for it!

Glenn

: Hello All,
: I picked up a piece of basswood yesterday and it was really cheap.
: How would this work as paddle material? ...
