: I have the cove and bead and I absolutely love it. I agree with Kurt that
: for ripping strips you can use the table saw to rip to desired
: thickness but you still need to plane the board first so the
: edges come out smooth. (the face of the board becomes the edge
: of the strip).

: Not sure what you meant about planing to 1/16". I assume you
: mean removing 1/16" of material. The Ridgid is fine for
: that. For planing down to 1/16" finished thickness I've
: never tried it but I have gone to 1/8" with no problems.

Hi All, Thank you for your quick and good response, First because my shop is small I own the worlds worst folding table saw(Sears) and I cant cut an accurate
1/4" strip to make a decent cove and bead,When I buy lumber for a kayak I usually get 2 or 3 different types of wood probably from different mills and the thickness varies so to get a decent cove and bead a planer is needed. I am interested in 1/16 thickness to make accent strips of different color wood and
also to make deck hardware like bungee tiedowns I think maybe???? the Dewalt 734 is the winner??? orrr Rigid?? Thanks again Nick R.
