: What is this KOG of which you speak?
: It looks like a book I might like.

I forget, not everybody on this boards has heard of "Kayaks of Greenland: The History and Development of the Greenlandic
Hunting Kayak, 1600-2000.” KOG for short. In my blog entry I have more information on the book. Below is an excerpt from my post:
http://clearstreamwood.com/WordPress/kayaks/danielles-picking-her-next-kayak

"It was written by Harvey Golden in 1999 and published in 2006. It’s 580 pages of “the construction, design, variation, and evolution of the Greenlandic hunting kayak.” There are 104 scale drawings of museum specimens dating from the early 1700′s through the 2oth century. It’s become the bible for people interested in Greenland-style kayaks. There are also hundreds of historical images and technical drawings. It’s available through Harvey’s website and through Amazon."

If you're interested in the history of kayaks, it's $70 well spent. Only one problem with the book: you'll want to build them all! Actually, I think Harvey HAS... :D
