Launched this new Gentry Chuckanut 15 today in Wilmington, NC at Trails End boat ramp/park. It went well, especially considering stiff winds and the occasional large boat wakes while crossing to and from Masonboro Island.

Frame: Atlantic white cedar stringers, meranti marine ply frames and stems both sourced from Anchor Hardwoods, Wilmington. Lashed per Kudzu Craft video. Formby's tung oil finish.
Cockpit sole: big box Radiata pine.
Coaming: lumberyard southern yellow pine.
Skin: Dyson 8oz poly, sewn per Corey Friedman videos and shrunk with a clothes iron. Sherwin Williams all surfaces oil based enamel, semigloss, 3 thin coats and needs a fourth. Lexel caulk at sewing holes.

Impressions - a fast and stable recreational boat. The oil paint marks up easily but seems well adhered and tough. I deliberately landed it full speed on the beach with no ill effects. With a dock and the continuous floor it is easy to get in and out without getting wet, which is nice for colder weather. Next project is some type of seats with backrests that can be moved around for single or tandem paddling.
