Bit of history, when I was in high school I got to be a go-fer for a friend's dad who at the time was a shipwright for Douglas and McLeod (now Tartan Marine) he was building his own 30' strip planked sailboat. The planks as I remember (this was nearly 50 years ago) were honduras mahogany about 3/4" x 1 1/2" with a slight convex/concave on the tops and bottoms of the planks. There were glued (plastic resin glue) and nailed into drilled holes thru the width of the strips into the next strip below. Ended up with a one piece wood hull with a couple bulkheads and no frames. Very nice way to build a boat. Downside (there's always a downside) is any damage is very difficult to fix. Boat's name was Smoke (friends last name was Chimney) have no idea what became of the boat. I did get to work for D&M the next summer, my first real job working for a boat building company, assembling rigs for Highlander and Thistle sailboats.
