The initial rocker on the boat was severe towards the ends. Anyway, I decided to measure the rocker out from the ends of the gunwales and use a keel batten to estimate where that second rib should be. It looks a little more sane.

Kudzu - I was looking over some of the diagrams of traditional kayaks in the book, and mine looked more like a whitewater kayak than anything in there... so it was probably too steep. I'm excited to hear there is such a large non-traditional SOF kayak community. This is my first kayak and I'm not sure I'm looking forward to the cramped cockpit... might look into more modern designs for the next one.

Thanks for the feedback. -a

: Most kayaks have a pretty much continious curve in the rocker, some
: have much more than others, but most have a gentle arc as a keel
: shape. There are some that have the rocker deeper more forward
: or more aft but still it's a pretty much continious curve. I
: know for example that my "new" canoe has it's max
: rocker very far forward, seems to me to be an odd shape, works
: well though.
