I go with all that has been said so far about the use of clamps and tape to hold strips in place. I am on my second staple-less build and one thing that I have found realy usefull is a length of plastic coated washing line. I cut it into short(4ft to 6ft) lengths and tie a loop on one end. I then loop it around the boat at and pull tight, looping the end under to hold fast. This holds everything tight to the frames while I then use clamps and tape to close the new seam up tight.
BTW. Be prepared to lie through your leeth when her in doors finds that her washing line has gone missing!!!!
