Skin-on-Frame: Not a kayak . . . . *PIC*
It's my latest project - another proof of concept that many boats can be built (cheaper and quicker and lighter) SOF.
This one is a conversion of the late, great Phil Bolger's Amesbury Skiff "Mippet."
The original was designed for batten seam plywood construction, and was designed decades ago. I don't know if any were ever built, actually, and of course, if there were, none were ever built in SOF!
Anyway, here she is. She's 9'6" x 3'6" and weighs about 31lbs. Still needs thwarts, but she'll be rowing tomorrow.
WRC, 1/2" marine ply and 12 oz nylon skin, coated with ZAR polyurethane varnish.
