: Thank you for the responses.

: I decided to answer my own question, and tried a sanding screen
: last night. For the record, don't bother with them. It started
: out fine, but became dull very quickly, no doubt due to the
: small surface area carrying the abrasive. The screen might be
: good for cutting through the initial glossy layer, which might
: have some blush. I used the screen with water to clear it, it
: held up fine to the water. Things seem to move along much better
: after I cut through that initial gloss.

: I do use a shave hook type scrapper to initially remove runs,
: drips, and bugs. I have cabinet scrappers, but have not
: developed much skill in sharpening them and putting on a good
: burr with a burnisher. I like to sand with a long, slightly
: flexible sander to get things really smooth.

: Thanks again.

Btw, didn't think to ask about the resin you're using, but you might have blush, best to scrub the surface with soap and water before you start sanding. Blush will quickly plug the sandpaper and takes forever to remove by sanding but comes right off with soap and water, scotch brite pad works great for this.
